Veronica Shine

Before entering the field of writing, Veronica Shine had careers in the fashion, travel, theatrical and real estate fields.

Veronica, a native New Yorker, has always had a love and fascination for the city and the environment around her. During the first Earth Day as a teen, she washed down the statues and removed garbage from Central Park. Her interest lingered for a cleaner and breathable city. Her main concern was in lowering the smog level of NYC; which was at dangerous levels at that time. She became an active member of the Sidewalks of NY committee during her college years at Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) and New York University. Although the group is no longer in operation; as a first of its kind, it became instrumental with necessary enviromental changes in the city and developed other off shoot organizations protecting the enviroment today.

Perhaps from being in the theater since a child, a natural transition to write emerged. Her published works have appeared in ezines and magazines in Europe, Canada and the United States with a focus towards beauty, fashion and travel.  

Creative, energetic and focused, Veronica kept that process of her environmental concerns with a new book to be released Autumn 2008.

Married with one son, she and her family reside in Europe. Although a full time writer on various subjects, she still takes pride in keeping up with the trends and informing her peers recent alternative energy methods being used overseas.

Being a native New Yorker, I lived in a city all my life that had a little bit of all different countries in a small area. If I wanted to go to Asia, I could just hop a subway to Flushing.  Brighten Beach became Russia, Poland equals Greenpoint, Greece was Astoria. It was an exciting place to grow up in, to get to know so many different cultures and have a variety of people from all over the world whom I can call friends.

I have traveled for many years abroad. Of all my travels, the image I always remember was my first visited to Spain in 1970.  The  glimpse I caught from above was surprising. It looked very dry, mostly brown earth and I couldn't find the Mediterranean. I was relieved; the sea was not only there, but it was beautiful, as well as animated, with the most unexplainable tri-colors of azure. I was hooked on traveling ever since!
