Veronica Shine

Scenes from your dreams and other writing

Bio

Before entering the field of writing, Veronica Shine had careers in the fashion, travel, theatrical and real estate fields.

Veronica, a native New Yorker, has always had a love and fascination for the city and the environment around her. During the first Earth Day as a teen, she washed down the statues and removed garbage from Central Park. Her interest lingered for a cleaner and breathable city. Her main concern was in lowering the smog level of NYC; which was at dangerous levels at that time. She became an active member of the Sidewalks of NY committee during her college years at Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) and New York University. Although the group is no longer in operation, it was a first of its kind, thus becoming instrumental with necessary environmental changes needed in the city. This one group helped develop other off shoot organizations determined to protect the environment today.

Perhaps from being in the theater since a child, a natural transition to write emerged. Her published works have appeared in ezines and magazines in Europe, Canada and the United States, focusing on beauty, fashion, lifestyle and travel.

Married with one son, she and her family reside in Europe. Although now a full time writer, she still takes pride in keeping up with the environmental trends and informing her peer’s of recent alternative energy methods being used overseas.

About Me

Being a native New Yorker, I lived in a city all my life that had a mixture of all different countries in a small area. If I wanted to go to Asia, I could just hop a subway to Flushing or head to Brighton Beach for a Russian influence, while Greenpoint equated Poland, and Greece lived in Astoria.  It was an exciting place to grow up in and to get to know so many different cultures, thus giving a true meaning to the word wanderlust.

Of all my travels, the image I’ll remember forever was my first visit to Spain in 1970.  The glimpse I caught from above was surprising. The land looked dry and with mostly brown earth and I couldn't locate the Mediterranean from the plane. I was relieved after I landed, as the sea was not only there, but it was animated, with the most unexplainable tri-colors of azure. I was hooked on traveling ever since!

My career has been just as diversified as New York.  Presently, I reside in Europe and write by pounding the keys of my laptop daily on the edge of the Mediterranean.
